It is possible that Thin Clients based on Embedded Windows and Windows XPe could be attacked by the Blaster Worm. Keep that in mind and patch accordingly.

Microsoft does have a patch for Windows XP Embedded with SP1.

BLACKOUT- When Wireless Phones Failed, Callers Turned to Land Lines

I hate to see any type of disaster, but maybe the US Blackout will continue to force "infrastructure" companies to plan a little better for times like this. I would be somewhat upset if I needed my cell phone only to find out that it did not work because my provider did not have a generator in place.

Windows Worm Should Never Have Been a Problem

Paul Thurrott really does a nice job in his editorial on why the latest worm should have never become the problem it is. In a nutshell he suggests that we all knew about this a month ago and it is a system admins job to secure the network. I have to agree no matter how much we want to bash Microsoft.

Citrix Printing Help Is Here

Project Compatibility 3.0 has been released from DABCC.

From the site: The principles behind Project Compatibility are, simply put, to grab a list of MetaFrame servers, then parse through their logs to find failed printer drivers and present those drivers to the administrator to take action against. From this core philosophy, I’ve added a few other features and logic to account for every circumstance that I can think of.

Also check out Printing Support.COM. This is a killer site dedicated to the creation and maintenance of printer mapping database files.
